Dick Dent Bird Sanctuary is a 10 hectares (25 acres) reserve in Strand, South Africa.
This isolated bird sanctuary is located near the estuary of the Lourens River. It used to be the site of a waste water treatment works but is now protected within the Lourens River Protected Natural Environment. It is managed by the nearby Helderberg Nature Reserve with help from the Somerset West Bird Club, and it is now a habitat for a great many water birds.
A water bird, alternatively waterbird or aquatic bird, is a bird that lives on or around water. In some definitions, the term water bird is especially applied to birds in freshwater ecosystems, although others make no distinction from seabirds that inhabit marine environments. Some water birds (e.g. wading birds) are more terrestrial while others (e.g. waterfowls) are more aquatic, and their adaptations will vary depending on their environment. These adaptations include webbed feet, beaks, and legs adapted to feed in the water, and the ability to dive from the surface or the air to catch prey in water.

Very nice area. Is it legal to fly in a bird sanctuary?! That would be very cool.

Just curious
In Germany it's forbidden to fly in any kind of natural reserve, no matter what it's for. To me it doesn't make much sense...

Ja, that is Germany, this is Africa. It is also not allowed to fly in nature reserves and twice in two different plaes I have been requested to desist - which I do - but I got my footage.
Last weekend I flew outside a resort and the gate guards walke about 500m to ask me to stop. There is no indication that drones should not fly there but I respect the privacy of the people (not that I saw any) on the ground.
I guess it is because you get pilots and bikers who make a nuisance of themselves and this spoils it for everyone.

Enjoy!
But wait! you have just had winter, or do you have very short summers?
Or maybe some people are like me, posting old stuff, with snow
It's the onset of Winter here - through to the middle of April '22 probably.
