Look at the official table of EASA. I don’t see any problem. register and pass the online test and you are ok.

That’s fine except if you want to pay for the regular exam I guess.

Here in France it is for free. In Germany as well and it takes only an hour. Really, this is not an issue unless you are under 16. Then you would have to be accompanied by someone older

I think you’re thinking of the wrong test.   The test that lets you bump a category is an extra test that’s usually supervised and costs some money.

I am talking about the A1/A3 test in the open category. It is for free and can be done online. In some countries the A2 test costs between 250 and 350 Euros and can also be done supervised (camera) online, for example already in Germany.
My table is valid until 31 December 2022, here is the link:

I don’t see how that helps unless your drone has a classification.

Well he did show bits from the EADA email exchange. But for now all we can do is wait.

He did, but there is too much fuzz in his latest video's if you ask me.

I don’t see how that helps unless your drone has a classification.

I found in an Austrian document  that EASA communicated to them that if there is no explicit mention of a MTOM the actual weight of the drone counts. In the case of the DJI mini 2 the only weight mentioned is 249g. In reverse this rather means that you are not allowed to add weight, so no propeller guards etc.

This is the old rule that’s now been changed to MTOM.

Yes. He got confirmation from EASA that the 250g is changing to MTOM.  And that EASA is setup to do the classifications.

So I meant were there any DJI exclusives!

Not really.   Although Alex kept calling the new mini2 the Mini2S and then had to correct himself which might have been suspicious.

Don't tell me that... I'll be regretting getting the Mini 2 if it's only a small price increase!

Osmo Pocket to DJI Pocket 2 was only a small increase... In fact I think the price was the same at £329 when it launched

Back on topic....

My fear is that DJI will just use this to sell another upgrade.

They won't go back and get their current models classified, instead they'll release something with essentially the same airframe and a few software tweaks and get that classified.

That way you'll have to upgrade to keep flying.

If they got classifications for their current drones they 'lose sales', in the eyes of a big corp like DJI. Their track record of abandoning firmware updates with bugs still outstanding as soon as a model is superceded is well known.

It's a fine commercial balance, but one that I would hope would cost them dearly in terms of brand loyalty. I'd love to see them show more aftercare for their customers as they make great hardware.

Since we know that they could have got classification for at least the Mavic 3 I think you’re right and they are boycotting for as long as possible to generate sales of classified drones in the future.

If it is only about those couple of grams, I'm not sure what I will do.
That feels a bit a theoretical difference that you won't notice.

Its not just a few grm , mtom is the total weight the drone and its maximum payload it can lift , which will be about 50% more than its actual weight i believe

For information, the Danish aviation authorities (EU) are not aware of any tightening or changed requirements for drones under 250 grams now or in future..... https://droneregler.dk/Emne-Dron ... d-drone-paa-0-249-g

I find this very strange, since it should be about safety right?
As long as the total mass does not exceed 250g, I feel a lot safer than flying with my old Mavic Pro.
We will see how it will change and what it will mean for the countries.

Until now I have more or less flown by the rules. Sometimes I got too close to an object, but that was about it.
But when they are going to get even more strict, to the point where it is not about safety anymore, I'm not sure what I will do.
