I saw a documentary about concrete barges some time ago. I believe it was British and had to do with WW2

They sometimes get some creative ideas for the materials and structures for sure. I even remember hearing that somebody proposed the British Navy to create an aircraft carrier out of pykrete (a mixture of ice and wood)

Yes,   when we built the mulberry harbour for D day they were made from congrete garages,   they are littered around the UK coast.

Cheers I took that under the flight path for London city airport.  Luckily its only got a altitude limit there.  


During the wars they built a lot of boats in concrete due to the shortage of steel.
