I have intentionally ignored any firmware and software updates for my M2Zoom until now. With time on my hands, today seemed like a good moment to bite the bullet.
Everything went smoothly, and after subsequently re-calibrating the Compass and the IMU, out we went to try a test flight.  All was well. Controls performed as they should.
Take-off and flight were smooth, hover was rock-steady ( hardly any wind though, today).  Tested the RTH and precision landing for the incoming journey, and the drone landed on a sixpence within inches of the take-off point.  For anyone hesitating to update to the latest firmware, I have to call this an unqualified success.

Those Mavic 2 drones are pretty solid. I had no issues when updating firmware on those as well, always went smooth.

Hi Suren. Yes, that's been my finding too. Having read others' troubles on the forum, I'm always wary of performing updates as soon as they are published. I prefer to wait a while until any hiccups have been discovered.

I updated my M2p about a month ago and saw no issues. As of now it is still my favorite drone, no surprises. And since I bought it used, one of the least expensive.

The only drone I bought second hand was a Mavic Pro Platinum, and I got some good use out of that before upgrading to the M2Z early last year.  I'd held off doing any updates for quite a while, after reading several tales of woe on the forum.  I love this machine as much as the Mini1. I'll be keeping both for the foreseeable.

Thanks DJI Stephen.  I think it's important to recount positive experiences to the forum, if only to balance out a little of the negative press we see on here.

Always did mine when prompted and only had one issue where after the update I had to reboot the phone before it could connect to the controller again.

The only time I ever had issues was when I tried to use the DJI Assistant for Windows.  Ever since, I've used wifi and it's been trouble-free. (touch wood)

Never felt the need to use the assistant.  The OTA updates just seemed logical to me.

Quite so.  That was nearly five years ago when I first got the Phantom 4.  I soon abandoned the Assistant in favour of Wifi to the Android tablet. But even then I was never amongst the first to update. I always held off until any glitches or catastrophes had been documented by others.
