Today I attempted filming a robin in flight in Slow Motion (x8). The little blighter knew I was there, only about 3 metres away, with the Pocket 2.
When I played the footage back, he looked quite small and distant in the frame.
So I played around with Davinci Resolve, cropping and zooming to try for more detail.
The limitation of the SloMo function on the P2 is that it only records at 1080.
So the resulting zoom and crop loses sharpness dramatically.
I got the shot I wanted, but not the quality, unfortunately.

Very cool how it sometimes glides with the wings folded in at the beginning. To clear the branches maybe.
Hi Depp. Yes it seems to be half leap, half flight, doesn't it. Particularly the second one, where it jumps and then just uses its wings to kill the speed and land.
Thanks Peter. Yes it would help. Or if the P2 could shoot SloMo in 4K, the crop might have better definition - particularly if the zoom fubction could be made to work when in SloMo mode. But those are the limitations of the device we have,

Funny thing is, they could have added 'good' digital zoom (cropping the frame while zooming in, remaining decent quantity).
But they chose not to.
It will be better to get a tele lens for sure.
But fiddly.....

That would be desirable - better than a fiddly "add-on"
The lens add-ons (such as the supplied wide angle device) are fiddly, and since they're only held on magnetically I always worry about them becoming detached and easily lost.

They are very fiddly.
But I would love to give it a test if I could find one.
Very cool SloMo. The Robin almost appeared to be having a stare off with you. It is unfortunate that DJI decided against writing code to allow 4K while in SloMo. Anyway, still a great capture.

Hi RDB. It was the best I could do with the equipment available. Yes he was definitely at a stand-off with me only 3 metres away They're a very bold bird. If the code for the P2 would allow 4K I think I could have got a more satisfactory result from the crop.

Despite the limitations of the P2 you made it perform quite well in capturing that video. Keep up the great work.
No. I only posted it to demonstrate the limitations of the Pocket2. I don't like to clutter my YT account with too much stuff. So I delete those with little response.
