thanks Depp,   Ill pass on your compliments to the iPhone.  (it makes these from time to time and then pings you to tell you about it.)

The tower is the old mill building where they would make flower,  its derelict now and the new flower mill is next door.

Space limitation can be a problem.  How long does each coat of varnish take to dry before you can apply another coat?

The one Im using was a bit of a steal,   a 2.5 litre tin was reduced from £38 to 18 for clearance.   Its touch dry in 20minutes and recoat in a hour.   Took a little longer yesterday when it was a bit colder.  But after roughly an hour is hard enough to move.

That is pretty fast drying.  Besides while it waited to dry it gave you a chance to do other chores or jump on line.

Yes,   a good deal of multi tasking and using the timer on my apple watch to to maximise recoats.

In a previous life I wrote software to automate project management and it leaned heavily into optimising time.   There are some really big time saving things you can do if you’re creative.   For example you can have 10 people build a server each in parallel or you can break down the process and stagger it so that one person builds 10 servers in the same time as 1.1 servers.   You take the waiting time and move on to the next one. Like power on insert DVD. Now rather than waiting for it to boot you do the same for all the servers when you get back to the first one it’s ready for the next step and then you repeat the process.   The repeatability also makes for a better quality build.

For the most part I've found that people resist change.  If change has value in it then I never minded.  What I hated was new leader comes in and changes everything, and not always for the better, just to put his stamp on things.

Part of the problem we had was before the software a project manager would go round everyone to schedule the work and get dates but the tool took that away so it was much harder for people to give stupid king dates then do it in a fraction of the time to be seen as a hero.

Yes,  we managed to get a lot more done with the same about of people in a much shorter time especially when we ramped up the projects.
