this has probably been asked several times in different ways.  My elderly xperia xz struggles to connect reliably to my drone which makes it difficult to use easily so is time for a change.  is anybody in the uk using a sub £400 android phone which gives good, reliable performance when using the mini 2.  Could anyone reccomend a particulatly good all rounder type phone which also works well with the dji fly app and costs less than £400?

Hello there karlinurswick. Good day and thank you for reaching out. I hope that our fellow DJI co pilots can give out some recommendations with regards to this matter. Just a reminder that DJI recommended using a recommended mobile device when operating your DJI Mini 2 for compatibility and reliability purposes. For reference I will post a link where in you can find the recommended mobile device for the DJI Mini 2. Thank you.

You could get an iPhone 8 for 200-300 on ebay.

Samsung S6 works, £30 to £90 on ebay, if you go with Android you have the option of choosing which version of the app you use, I believe you do not have that option if you use an iPhone.

I'm not in the UK but I picked up a really good used Samsung Note 9 for 225 USD on Swappa for my grandson to use with his Mini 2.  Works on my Air 2 and original Mini.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is no longer approved for use with the Fly app. I am now mostly using a used S9 which I got on eBay for $80US. The screen is very bright in comparison with anything else I have.

The Samsung S6 may no longer be approved but it works fine with fly 1.3 for my mini 2 and maybe 1.5 with my FPV.

ok, thanks for the replies.  Shame DJI cant just give recommended specs for a phone, finding a lot are in short supply so will have a look after christmas when the demand has slowed down a bit

I was wondering how your S6 works and I cant get mine to. Mine is the SM-G920v with android 7. It installs and opens but no matter which option I try to use the screen goes dark then comes back to the main screen. Ive tried several versions of the fly app with no luck they all do the same thing. I know this is off topic but really need help with this. Thanks

I will check the exact model later but I think mine are 920F. I will also check the Android versions too.

Yep, checked, mine are 920F's and running either Android 7.0 or Android 6.0.1.
Android 7 is on the phone running  Fly 1.5.0

Hi and thanks for checking.
I looked at specs and they are exactly the same.
Same CPU and GPU just different networks.
This is an old phone of mine and not even in service.
I tried the same fly versions you mentioned and they all do the same thing.
Its really strange that it doesn't work right.
I do appreciate the info.

I'm in the UK and using a OnePlus N10, works fine with my mini 2, about £250 new. Current Fly app with no issues. Running Android 11.

Does it work with Go and Go4? They will not work with the drone but just check if they boot etc.?

I would recommend Google Pixel phones.

Plus 1 for Google Pixel
I'm using a 3a and it works great and you can pick one up pretty cheap. And it's working with OS 12.
