Chimney sweeping is easy,   you can but a brush for about £10 and the rods are the same as the ones you use for drains.   Takes longer to get everything out and washing it than actually sweep it.

I bet cleanup can be quite messy.

I hang a sheet over the front of the fire place,   sweep the chimney,  takes the rods outside and rinse them, and then whats left in the fireplace is no difference to clearing up the ash.

Yes I guess I do.   Just had to do fire bricks in the MIL stove.

Apart from replacing the pull coords on two blinds which wont take 10 minutes, there is nothing now on the list unless of course something breaks.

It took a bit of fiddling to get it to work,   I later (after I got home) googled for a replacement just in case and found a few,  the instructions tell you to rotate the bell to get the best sound for the bell so luckily thats all that was wrong with it.

Well that turned out to be an easy fix then and also cheap.
