There was not much light tonight to speak of, except for a tiny sliver of the Western skies. So, I had an idea...

While we continue to hear who unusable the upper lens is, here is my attempt to actually use it in its current state - no RAW, no manual control, just "as is".
39 JPEG frames, assembled in ACR, produced a whopping 66Mb image 22Kx7K = 157Mp image. Click on the image to see the 5K version.
The ground area is several miles away, with the larger hills more like 10-15 miles away.
I say, not too shabby for a flying P&S with a tiny 1/2" sensor.

I’m flattered, really. I’m sure there are pros who already took some amazing pictures of South China Sea, Icelandic volcanoes or some other truly exciting location in a perfect light, we just haven’t seen them yet

This is absolutely stunning,   I think this should be proof how good the zoom is.

You may want to revisit the cloning in the top right corner, but the rest is stunning.

The drone location is above my house in Thousand Oaks, CA 91362.
The landscape you see in the picture is primarily the area known as Newbury Park, our neighboring city.
if there were no fog, you could see Ventura on the horizon, some 50 miles away.

Thanks again! Yeah, I wanted to do that since I first heard of Mavic 3 and its second camera.
As a photographer, I use my telephoto for landscapes a lot, so I was surely missing that capability when flying. Now we're cooking!

I thought I recognized those hills....  As I type this, I'm at work in Glendale, so not very far away.  I'm a radio guy, so recognizing mountain tops is normal...

I really love this area, hills are so pretty. Also good for cardio, as no matter where you go, you'll always be gaining or losing altitude.

Definitely will be an enhancement.  I put off buying the M3 until after I see how the firmware update goes.  Hopefully, it will fix a few issues and add a lot of functions.
