DJI RC Pro Working with DJI Air 2S!? | Combo Package Purchased!

Thats interesting because when I go into Aircraft Management on my RC Pro it shows the M3 & it shows the Air 2 S.
I think its time I tried to connect to my Air 2S and see if it works.

Good question. I want to think it came after the first firmware upgrade for the RC Pro however I cannot really confirm. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

I ordered the Air 2S with RC Pro from BH Photo.  The controller on it states RC Pro Model 510.  I want to confirm that this is indeed the RC Pro and not the older Smart Controller.

I have not turned it on yet.

My original smart controller is model 500.  The pics on the b&h site definitely show the new controller.

Confirmed it is the RC Pro and setup with the Air 2S.

I bought my Air 2S from B&H today thinking it was a typo. I will be crossing my fingers. I get mine sometime Friday and will post if it is the newer model. Maybe they just ran out of the old Smart Controllers and started packaging the new ones but Amazon had a few dozens of the previous kit?

I should add, that isn't unusual at all. I've dealt with companies for year, many that that sell a lot of expensive kit. Many have literally cooked one off firmware for us to try and fix an issue.

It’s quite possible they would do that.

I already have the Air 2S - do you know if I buy the RC PRO from DJI website that it will work? Or for some reason is it only this special bundle being sold at B&H? PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY if its all compatible!

I think it’s just a matter of time before they issue a firmware update.

I got the Air 2S bundle with the RC Pro.  Can you pair multiple AC with the RC Pro?  If I get the mavic 3 also, can I pair that as well?  Have both paired to use a separate times?

They obviously can easily make the Air 2S work with the RC Pro, since they are selling it as a bundle. So why not push new firmware update to make RC Pro work with Air 2S for those of us who already own Air 2S?

I suspect even if they make the new controller backwards compatible that wont include go4 so I'll probably keep it for that.

The Fly App on the controller notes AC Firmware of 02.04.2120 and RC Firmware of 03.00.0008.

Fly App was 1.5.0.

I got a message on AC firmware and also RC Firmware update.  let it run.  The only thing that changed was the Fly App version which is now 1.5.4.

I did power all off and back on again to check and no update messages.

The 03.00.008 is different than what is noted for the RC Pro on the Mavic 3 forum

Ok I just got my Air 2S up and running, took a quick test flight to verify operation:

I don't see any revision numbers on either piece of hardware other than the generic models posted here

Ok I just got my Air 2S up and running, took a quick test flight to verify operation:

The RM510 is definitely the same RC Pro sold on the website and with the Mavic 3, so that's confirmed. The big difference I am seeing here is the RC firmware being 3.00.00.08 for the B&H bundle buyers, but the most recent firmware for the RC Pro (per DJI Assistant) is 1.00.0400

I can't find any firmware in DJI Assistant applications for this 3.00.00.08 anywhere, so its definitely only available on the RC Pros in the B&H bundles...

I don't understand why they don't already push the firmware update live for all RC Pros... let current Air 2S owners upgrade to RC Pro if they please.

wow wtf is DJI doing!? It's literally the same controller and they're closing it off based on what product it ships with - lol. What about current Air 2S owners who want to upgrade!?

From the speculation there will be a firmware in the future that fixes that.  But I agree,   its a weird thing to do.

Well, and I do SDN for work as well, it's probably based on the PAD and RC.

Just a good guess, however, because I've got no real insight. Still, I'll wager its PKI. They probably need to merge the two code trains together.

Possibly for the firmware but theres no reason the fly app cant be updated,  it auto updates just like an android phone now.

You will not do that. The Air2s will work. There's a new Mini 3 coming in 2022, and the Mavic 2 will use the DJI GO 4 app. That's it then.
