Just to give you all an update. If you purchase the AIR 2S fly more combo with smart controller which is £1559.00 on DJI website, it will be shipped with the new RC Pro.
This is confirmed by DJI due to no stock of smart controller.

Hi, have only taken delivery of it today and at work. Once charged will check and let you know firmware version.

I can only see AIR 2S but don't have Mavic 3 to try.

Just a heads up. The RC Pro will only link to the supplied AIR 2S. It WILL NOT link to my other one.

It seems hard to understand why they would mess around like this.

No it doesn't make much sense unless they do have plans for later firmware update which will make it compatible with other models as those that have purchased the RC Pro standalone will hope a firmware update will make it backward compatible??

Theres a few threads saying that firmware update will come in January so we'll see what happens.

Hi, RC Pro has now linked to my other AIR 2S. Dumb me had not bound my 2S to my account. Once I'd done that, connected straight to RC Pro.

I just received the DJI Air 2S with the RC Pro combo package today. My RC Pro will not link to the Air 2S! I have tried linking through the software settings and by pushing the two back custom button and the top left button with the red dot on it all to no avail. I am about three hours in this trying to get it to pair. Not happy. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Update - I finally got the RC Pro and the Air 2S to pair buy using the C1 and C2 buttons and pushing the record button along with holding the button down on the drone battery for 4 seconds but it disconnects after about one minute. Guess I need to see if I can figure out if I have the latest Firmware update (I have 03.00.0008) on the RC Pro and if not see about getting it updated. I have never had so much trouble with a DJI product before!!

Hi, hope you have it sorted now. I did firmware update on RC Pro first. Mine linked ok but I did mine manually through pro where it will search first then ask you to link by pressing battery on drone for 4 secs until beeps then press link on remote. I only had an issue trying to pair Pro to old AIR 2S but sorted after binding to my account.

I figured it out. Just had to use my phone hot spot wifi instead of the home wifi. For some reason, it did not like my home wifi.

It is sooo coool!!

Edit - See #25.

.....more evidence of a hardware mod needed to make the drone compatible with the RC Pro.  Explains a lot.  Your other one isn't "modded" like the one that "came" with the RC Pro.

If it were only software to consider, your RC Pro--which already is loaded with A2S firmware--would link to any A2S.  This is why we don't see unified firmware available to download that will work on both MA3 and A2S.  This is of course just an opinion.  Many are of the philosophy it is a software only issue,  I do not subscribe to that philosophy,
