I just tested it. Too foggy here for a good test, only went straight up and back down. The best new feature is fantastic!!! Exponential settings for the joysticks!! I will wait for a clear day to test completely, but I have noticed that the video transmission and RC connection are now almost the same distance. This has been since 1.5.***.

It might be a good thing if someone from DJI took a hard look at OpenTX they have settings: OpenTX RC settings

The EXP setting was already there in the original release for the Mavic 3 if you were running iOS.  But it is nice they've also added this capability to the Android app and for other drones as well.  I hope they also add the Gain and Sensitivity features as well to bring it in line with the M2P, P4P, etc....

Why not on CineMode, where mostly needed????

It works great with Cine or Sport mode as well.  When connected to the drone, just change to either Cine or Sport mode on the controller and you will be able to change the settings for that specific mode.


EDIT:  I actually haven't tested this on the Mini 2 or other drones besides the Mavic 3 yet.  Above is how it works for the Mavic 3, so hopefully similar for the other drones as well.

Yep, the SC is basically just another Android device.  Thankfully DJI seems to be treating it as such with the last several iterations of the Fly app.  

And that really sucks if they aren’t giving EXP as an option in all modes on the non Mavic 3 drones.

Do you get a third option on the EXP settings for Cine?

Did no one really notice except me that the EXP throttle setting just doesn't work on the Mini 2?

It works on mine just fine.

And can you see the difference in the gimbal's behavior when controlling the throttle with the EXP 0.1 and 0.9 settings? I don't see the slightest difference.

A new build of the same version generally doesn’t auto update. Most of the time you’ll need to go manually download and update it.

A build update like this is usually a small change in the code that only affects a small piece of the app and is considered to be a relatively risk free change.   Because of this, it doesn’t have to go through the same sort of rigorous QA and release processes that go into a full version change and thus can be released much quicker.

I obviously have no direct insight into DJI’s dev processes and procedures, but this is fairly standard across the software industry.

I guess it depends where you work.   Usually the places I’ve worked would call out the version number like this.

X.y.z build ####

X = Major release
Y = feature(s) added
Z = bug fixs

The build number is never reused and just keeps incrementing on every compile.   After you make a release, if you find something that needs fixing that z number increments.

I have to admit my mistake. I assigned the throttle up setting to the gimbal movements, and this applies to lifting the entire drone. Therefore, I did not notice the action. Now I confirm that everything is working fine.

Finally go t a chance to pull out my Mini 2 and see that it only give EXP options for Normal and Sport like you mentioned.  That just makes no sense to me.  Cine is probably the most important of them all to be able to tune!

That definitely is not how DJI does it. The difference between v1.5.1 and v1.5.4 is far greater than just bug fixes when it comes to the Mavic 3.  They implemented several new features in addition to a lot of bug fixes. I think the only thing consistent with DJI is their inconsistency. Lol
