Question. I have a new unopened DJI FPV kit that I bopught from Best Buy on their black Friday sale, as a spare kit, not intended to fly anytime soon as I have 2 others flying. With all the problems with the new versions of software, I'm reluctant to open up this new unit, to activate, upgrade, etc. etc. "BUT: I fear if I leave it sealed up for too long, it may become a brick with out dated firmware that can't be upgraded. ????

Hi cootertwo, you may see if you would love to open it. From my personal suggestion, I would check the drone and confirm all is normal.

Hi Susan, thanks for the reply. However, with all the "Fly Safe" problems I've been reading about, I'm afraid to connect ANY of my FPV drones to DJI, for fear of having the upgrade and Fly Safe error. Has there been any cure for this problem, or is it not as common as it seems? I currently have two FPV units that are flying fine, but I do not know what version firmware I have on them. I do know they have not been connected to the internet for almost a year, so I assume they have an older firmware, that is still working fine. Please help.

I can tell you what happened to mine :
Connected my drone and did an upgrade, was left with a brick. Fly safe db error. Then I activated my spare brand new drone, did the upgrade and was left with another brick.. Until there is a new update , i would not touch that sealed drone!

This is a consumer product, so I don't think there are any political issues. The problem is support, it's not getting through that something is broken in either their firmware or fly safe db. Or it has no priority. It's really disappointing. Especially when first reports came in approx 1 month ago. And there is no resolution other then sending in the bricked drone. Which is not quite appealing during the holidays.

Mine is updated and fine. But as I have said in another thread I do not trust a multiple FW update jumps. I do all in Sequence one at a time until current. I also use Assistant 2 for all my updates.

I did all my updates and have no problems.

Not knowing about this problem, I updated a few days ago and all seems to be fine. I can start it up in our porch, but have not been outside in full Sat  view.
At which point  of the start up does the problem occur?

The problem is most likely not the FW, but the Fly safe DB. When I upgraded to 1.25, both drones were bricked. The error pops up, as soon as you get a proper GPS signal. Could also be that the DA2 was the culprit. DJI silently bumped the version to 2.1.2 a couple of days ago. This does however not resolve the Fly Safe DB error.

The US has not banned DJI. You should listen a little more carefully to the news.
