I have seen them on Amazon for around 10-15$ but am wondering if they would actually help give my mini 2 any extra range.

The DJI range is so good anyway you dont really need to boost it.

From what I have seen, not enough for the hassle.
M2 has quite good range, especially if you have to fly in line of sight
