At first I thought it was asphalt, and then that it was a hole from a dried-up river.

Yes Mr B,   compared to a few months ago the area is dead,   which is nice for walking as we dont see any people.

Looking at the pic I am put in mind of a very important person:

"McKinley Morganfield (April 4, 1913 – April 30, 1983), known professionally as Muddy Waters, was an American blues singer-songwriter and musician who was an important figure in the post-war blues scene, and is often cited as the "father of modern Chicago blues." His style of playing has been described as "raining down Delta beatitude.""

He had an enormouse influence on British Rock and specifically on people like Jimmi Hendrix, Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton etc.

Dave's river looks as though it may have a similar influence on Britain's rocks.

Her university degree course specialized in "Coastal and Estuarine Biology" and she spent months on end wading about in this kind of mud and silt

During the first lockdown that area was mobbed,   whats interesting is the route home from there comes past the large railway carpark,  under the last WFH advice it was really empty,  yesterday it was almost completely fall.

She would love it then,  usually there is a lot of birds around this area and some mud larking to be had too.

She was at Hull University, so a lot of the outdoor study was around Sperm Point on the Humber estuary.
One time, she got stuck up to her knees and had to be pulled out - leaving her wellies behind

I had a look in the summer down there but mostly couldn't get out far enough due both mud,   I only had on walking boots not wellies.   But people find all sorts down there,  even an anchor once.

We can but hope. But the numbers hospitalised are low, so the vaccination programme must be having an effect.

Those numbers do lag up to 4 weeks and they are slowly going up now.,  10.4% in the last week.
