Thought I'd solved my issues but it seems not! Fixed the "cannot link" problem. Found that the multi-core ribbon cable at the bottom of the RC Interface Board wasn't pushed right home. Fixed that and I have now linked the RC/.AC and can fly the drone just fine - visually.

Nvidia Shield is blank and displays "Disconnected" but the GPS location is there - see picture. If I try to calibrate the sticks i just get a "Disconnected" message so the only problem seems to be that the remote control is not connected to my device.
I've checked the Interface Board and seems OK. I've tried a different cable that I know is good so I'm thinking the Interface Board or the multi ribbon cable is defective.

Any suggestions please?

The GPS location map is simply showing the location of your Nvidia Shield K1.  

I have 2 P3Ps and fly both with an Nvidia Shield K1.  But I've never had a problem like you're having.  Your screen is showing good signal strength up and down and seems to be showing good satellites too, but nothing else.  It's been so long, I can't even remember how to connect or bind or if I even ever had to.  When I set up to fly, I first turn on the controller and the lamp on the controller is red.  Then I turn on the P3P.  The lamp on my controller then turns green before I've even turned on my K1.  The lamps under the wings start off yellow flashing, but eventually turn green flashing - but it takes a minute or two.  But this would happen even before the Go app has been loaded.  My K1 starts up.  I enter the main screen of the K1.  I plug in the cable into the K1.  The go app usually loads automatically.  Then I'll eventually get the screen that indicates I have a P3P and so I choose "Camera" and then the normal flight app screen loads.  I've never tapped "Camera" and seen a grey screen such as yours.  

Since you have both up and down signal strength indicators appearing to be reading excellent, it seems you may be right about it being a hardware or cable problem.  Unless, of course, we're looking at some kind of default screen.  Your camera tilt indicator seems to be working?

Just stripped the RC down again, checked the ribbon cable was tight in the main board and the `Interface board, re soldered the USB pins into the Interface board but still the same problem.

Thought I'd change my monitor so downloaded the DJI GO App onto my iPhone but can't get it to open the drone in the App. Just get the "How to connect" message instead of "Camera". Does this mean that my iPhone 12 is not campatible with the App?

It would appear that there are NO places in the UK that still service/repair the Phantom 3 series drone mainly because DJI are no longer supplying parts!

I have a Phantom 3 that I purchased 2nd hand.  I'm having the same issue. Will not connect to go app.  Am I out of luck and should consider this thing trash or can someone from DJI help ?

Forget DJI, contact Ant at Drone Optix he specialise in these older birds. Just done mine, replaced the RC with a fully refurbished one and everything good.

Now selling my complete P3A kit with loads of spares.
