A lovely frosty morning with clear blue skies. Ideal for an excursion with the Pocket 2 in search of more carved owls.
Another discovery today, amongst the leaf-litter. A dead totem. obviously succumbed to the decay of time.
And - a little further down the hill - I thought for a moment I may have a clue to the carver.
But no!  The initials NMCO carved on this post, with an arrow pointing the way, were simply an abbreviation for
New Mills Community Orchard.

Sometimes, late at night when all is quiet, you can hear one Howling in the nearby woods

Is this a new project Mr B,  find all the polls.

I like it.
Although it seems to have seen better days.

They are carved in situ from the remains of dead trees. So I guess they have a finite life due to decay of the dead wood.

It's the local Community Orchard - mainly apple I believe.

Very true.  However, it sure is nice when you can still see and enjoy them before they decay.
