Polar Express

Transport helicopter Mi-8T manufactured by the Kazan Helicopter Plant. It is a modification of the Mi-8 developed by the Mil Design Bureau in the 1960s. It left the assembly line in 1980. During its history, has made 22 thousand operating hours. He took part in the complex high-latitude Arctic expedition of Barneo, organized by the Russian Geographical Society. Visited the North Pole.

Now it is an art object of the Novosibirsk Museum of the USSR as part of the Time Gallery group of museums, created by Taknado Buro, and named the Polar Express.

You are right, this workhorse has worked beyond its resource. At first, I myself did not believe the numbers, 22719 hours, but in the museum documents it was written about 13 total overhauls made for the entire time. So such a large figure is understandable

You're most welcome.    With proper care and maintenance it sure lasted a long time.
