They are low res previews for each video.

You can use it as proxy files in Premiere Pro. There should be an way to disable it, but for now it's always there.

That I don't know... probably yes.

Hi, they can be used very well in Premiere, and to convert them to mp4 files just use this very powerful and fast .bat file which will do the right conversion.
