I am trying to update the remote controller (RC) of my Mavic Air 2 via the DJI assistant software but I get a message: Cannot load firmware list. Please retry

The retry option does not solve the issue. Are there any suggestions to get the RC firmware update to work via DJI assistant?

Which version of the Assistant 2 are you using?
Might I ask why you are trying to update the firmware?
Unless  the new stuff offers something I want I leave well alone and that includes the drones and apps. This stems from my phantom usage were it seemed updates were often problematic.

I am using DJI assistant v 2.0.14 and I am updating my Mavic Air 2 and RC via the DJI assistant due to the fact I am unable to do this via the DJI Fly app. My managed S21 does not allow me to side load the updates for the DJI Fly app. I am currently unable to fly my Macic Air 2 via the DJI Fly app (v1.4.0) because it will not run in combination with Android 12 (and no newer versions of DJI Fly are available in Google Play or the Samsing app store).

I am currently using the Litchi app as an alternative to fly my Mavic Air 2..........

I think you have the wrong version and need the one for consumer drones, it might be 2.1.8 and then you need to do the thing in the video

You are correct, I had installed the DJI assistant for Mavic and - with the help from the GHR-video I have installed the 2.1.8 version (DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series)) and the RC update went flawlessly .........

The honest answer is I think I made a mistake and was thinking the drone of this thread was an Air 2s not an Air 2. I may have got threads mixed up in my head.

The funny thing is, I was able to update the firmware of my Mavic Air 2 with the DJI assistant 2.0.14 (and unable to this for the RC). Fortunately the DJI assistant 2.1.8 could "handle" both, the Mavic Air 2 and the RC.....

The DJI "Mavic Air 2 Downloads" web page says to use "DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic, v2.1.14".  (https://www.dji.com/mavic-air-2/downloads)   Version 2.1.14 works for the Mavic Air 2 drone but no longer works for the Mavic Air 2 RC (i.e., it recognizes the RC, but doesn't find any firmware for it).

The DJI web page for "Mavic Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series), v2.1.8" description does NOT indicate compatibility with Mavic Air 2.  (https://www.dji.com/downloads/so ... sumer-drones-series)  However, version 2.1.8 *does* in fact work for both the Mavic Air 2 and the Mavic Air 2 RC.  Also, the release notes for "Mavic Assistant 2 (Consumer Drone Series)" do mention compatibility for the Mavic Air 2 and Mavic Air 2 RC being added in v2.1.0, Nov-2020.

My conclusion is that the correct version for the Mavic Air 2 and its RC is the "DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series), v2.1.8".   

DJI needs to update the Mavic Air 2 Downloads page to list "Mavic Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) v2.1.8" instead of the older 2.1.14, and DJI needs to update the "DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series)" web page to indicate that it is compatible with the Mavic Air 2.
