Going back to the text of the post, and a few others answered. DAFlys said "most places don't allow altitudes above 400 AGL". I assume AGL is Above Ground Level. I am new to drones so I have some questions. How do you know your altitude in DJI Fly? I know there is a read out on the screen for altitude but is that in reference to the home position or the ground directly below the drone using the sensors on the bottom of the drone? The reason I ask is I live on the edge of a mountain range, my street is about a 10% grade. So if I take off and climb to 100 ft, then go over to the 'open space' 1000 ft, my AGL will be close to zero. I don't need to run into the side of the mountain. I guess more testing is in order. But if the max. altitude is only 500 ft, and this is in reference to the home position, there is now way for me to fly over the local foothill close by taking off from my front yard.
the altitude is measured according to the place where the drone took off for example: if you take off with a drone from the edge of a slope and go down that slope, the altitude will become negative (-h) |
