Another nice find DA. Unfortunately, the topic of this video really riles me up.
The rollout of RID by the FAA has been an abomination from the get go. FAA first contemplated a continuous link via cell coverage. They then decided that without universal cell coverage that was a non-attainable idea. Now with a 15-foot accuracy requirement that will probably drive the cost of the remote identification (RID) system way too expensive for recreational flyers. The other big issue is one of personal safety. Under the current FAA rule the RID would make the PICs physical location available to anybody and not just law enforcement. I don’t want a gun toting drone hater knowing a drone pilot’s location.
My 2 cents: The rules, as currently written, are too far over reaching for non-commercial flyers.
