Is it an air1?
There's a photo in the Independant's article that looks like a Mini to me.

I wonder what camera/lens the photographer used?

It could be a mini I wasn’t sure. All or most photographers carry a 600mm Lens and some use extension tubes, and photos can be cropped very easily.

Look I see the biggest problem here will be , not rule changes but hate for all drone users. I nearly always try to avoid any people when I go out flying now, its a pity because drones in the right hands are relatively safe. Just my opinion.

Agreed, I can but wonder what would have happened to the pilot if the crowd had caught them. I hope the idiot gets caught .....by the police etc.

Flying cameras are just becoming too cheap and too easy to use, with absolutely no training, and most importantly no common sense.

old problem, new equipment.  the drone is the equipment of choice.

i remember when laser pointers became popular and people started using them at games to interrupt the play, scare the players, impress the crowd, attention seeker, etc.

just as difficult to detect (at least back then), easy to sneak into the game, there were no signs posted, easy to deploy, impossible to stop.

no new laser pointer laws were passed, licenses and permits and laser pointer registration was not implemented, the laser pointer community didn't get demonized, technology wasn't created to intercept and bring down laser beams, offenders were not thrown in federal prison or face half a million dollars in fines.....silly but "harmless" stupid human behavior eventually passed on.  and so will this.

*disclaimer, comments apply to the usa
*disclaimer, i own quite a few lasers

It will pass on and it will bring no new rules that’s clear. However those who hate drones will feel vindicated and those on the fence about drones will cross over to haters, and here in lies the negative results of idiots flying drones. You can do 10 good things with drones and 1 bad thing and we know which one will be remembered,  sad but true.

We had a saying in the Navy that 1 awes..t wipes out 10 attaboys.  Not sure if that makes sense.  You are absolutely right about the negative results of this idiot's actions.

Great saying so true.

I'm sure you saw the media coverage of the idiot who flew the drone during the NFL game between the Bengals and the Raiders.  FAA is going to "clip his wings" and give him the maximum fine possible to set an example of what happens when you flaunt the UAS rules and endanger all those people.

You just can't fix stupid.

I agree wholeheartedly.    I was doing a little checking and in addition to a hefty fine they can also confiscate his drone.
