Since the near-breach of the Toddbrook dam almost two years ago, the reservoir designed to maintain the levels in the nearby canal system has been drained until repairs are completed. Consequently, an alternative source is being temporarily pumped from the river Goyt, into the canal basin at Whaley Bridge.
I used the DJI Pocket 2 to film the outflow at normal speed and 8x SloMo.

The pocket 2 does nice slow motion.

Very impressive footage Blériot.    I didn't realize the P2 did slo-mo so well.

So 8x must be the key.  I'll have to give it a try whenever (if) my grandson decides to return my P2.

It's a interesting and fascinating thing to see what a difference a slo-mo can make in perception of our reality. :-)

I should really have stood the P2 on its tripod, for a direct comparison from the same viewpoint. But I like the transition from normal speed to slow motion.

Well the work will continue well into 2023, so probably until then.  They're not running 24/7.  Just when the canal level drops more than the norm.

When the reservoir was full, the overspill ran into the river Goyt anyway, so at the moment it's just taking an alternative route into the canal system.  Even if the canals are not used for a spell there is some level drop due to leakage and seepage. So topping up is a necessity.

Would it be right to say - the dams and polders in Netherlands are for keeping water OUT, whereas these dams in the UK are for keeping water IN ?
