Hello there jclarkw. Good day and thank you for reaching out. As more an more new mobile devices are released. DJI recommends using a mobile device that is part of our compatible devices for the DJI Fly application. However, using different mobile device doesn't mean that the DJI fly application would not work. The Fly DJI application may work smoothly using your preferred mobile device but then again since the mobile device hasn't been tested by DJI, the behavior of the DJI application might change especially if there will be an application update or firmware update.
