Cormorants and the pointless pier.......


Thought there was a strange black flag on here until I flew over and spotted the birds,  luckily the Mini2 has a little bit of zoom.

That's a great capture. We occasionally get cormorants this far inland. Last Autumn, one skimmed overhead along the canal -barely 3m high. Me and another bloke stopped and stared and had a chat about it.
Not much for it to catch in the canal.

Our neighbour used to have a koi pond,  and the heron was a regular visitor,  so much so SHMBO'd felt the need to tell them about it so they didnt think our cat was stealing them.

Maintenance of good neighbourly relations.  On many private ponds in France you see plastic herons placed strategically to discourage others.

There is a lot of small boat sailing in the area so maybe its used somehow for that.

I'm not into sailing so I can't confirm or deny it is used for that....but could well be.

They use that section for racing small sailing boats,  the one man kind of thing,  Im trying to catch one in action with the drone so I will keep an eye out for the platforms use.

Too many,   but my Mavic Air2S bag arrived and I can just get the M2P in it,   its a little snug but thats OK.

Great capture, is it an island built just for the birds, or was it part of something much larger?
