I got the timings wrong for this one, as it turned out. Had I run the sequence for another ten minutes it would have been rather spectacular. As it was, by the time I realised and tried to reset the P2, the moment had passed. Maybe next time. DarthSLR, comments welcome.

Still pretty nice. It's always hard to have the patience to let it run "forever"

Hi Depp. Thanks. I've just been out to catch the dawn with the Mini1. Hovering at 100m I burned through one entire battery, so I'm hoping for good results when I edit

Thanks David. I need to improve my timing - and get lucky with the cloud movements.

Yes, you're right - this post was done with the P2 yesterday evening. My previous comment refers to this morning's flight of the Mini1

Decent effort, how long were you filming for? I love seeing the clouds move across the sky.

I set the P2 on its tripod and rigged it to run for 20 minutes. But I was a little early, and half-way through it became apparent I needed to change the camera angle. So that part was about ten minutes'worth.
I should have set it for 30 minutes. Live and learn

Im trying out an app called Skycandy to see how accurate it is at predicting nice sunsets. So far Ive not had any false positives from it.   But the nicest sky seems to be a good bit after sunset time.

I read somewhere that it's due to the curvature of the earth and the speed of light. About 8.5 minutes' delay for light to reach us from the sun, so it actually disappears eight or nine minutes before we see it happen.  That messes with my mind a bit, I have to admit

Id assumed it was to do with the Rayleigh effect and light reflecting under the clouds.

Amen. All good fun though, I set it up and use a little power bank to plug it into to keep the battery charged ; they deplete quickly in the cold.

My P2 is fairly new. I reckon about 1 hour's worth of Timelapse @  1FPS should be doable. Judging by my earlier attempts.

As they say, practice makes perfect. My Pocket 2 hasn't seen much use lately, but I do have an idea for a shot related to one of my hobbies, and I will wait and see if the local community college will get through with their plans for a photography course on March... :-)

Ah yes. That explains it.
You can always set it much longer and stop the sequence when you think it is 'good enough'.

I set a 20 minute exposure but the first half wasn't any good. So I just posted the second half.

I usually just leave it on 2h or so.
And stop when I want to.

Next time I'll try 30 minutes - but loitering there for such a long period of time raises a few eyebrows from pedestrians.
