Yesterday, on our way to Krynica Zdrój, we stopped in Czchów. The Tropsztyn Castle is located by the route. I have traveled this way many times but never had enough time for photos. And now was the time and the weather. Such a short film.
It was built by the Gierałtów-Ośmiorogi family to protect the so-called The Sądecka Gate, through which a water and land route led towards Hungary. Wooden buildings could have been built in the 13th century, however, the first mentions of a brick castle come from 1382. At that time, there were high walls on a square plan. The buildings inside the walls were still wooden. Only the next owners, the Chebdowie, erected the first brick buildings, especially a high, massive tower in the north-west corner of the castle. in later years the Kmita family held the castle in their hands.
