@DJI
DJI products are great, the image quality is excellent. But the community is unhappy about the interest in customer satisfaction. The community has been waiting for the update for "MSP-DisplayPort" (Canvas-Mode) for over a year. And what do we get from DJI? A firmware that restricts previous freedoms, i.e. handcuffs.

That's why it's now questionable what the future of DJI-FPV looks like. It seems the best thing to do is to stop buying the products for the time being and switch to HDZero, as the future proofing is not noticeable. This would leave a great many used DJI-FPV units on ebay, and you guys would sell a lot less.

We are not small children to be supervised. Many of us bought the products based on good reviews on YouTube, and saw there what you can do with them. And now we are being forced into an update that takes away options available to us at the time of purchase. What if your car manufacturer would limit the speed of your car to the allowed speed of the driven road by a software update? Right, you'd be unhappy, really unhappy. And a lot of us are now because of you.
There is also no official DJI app that outputs the image to the smartphone. This was developed by the community. Why couldn't DJI make this available?

You guys should listen to what the community wants, it would help you regain trust. It's really not much we want. A few days of work for a programmer and we would all be happy. You would significantly increase the number of Goggles sales, and the money invested would be more than worth it. A win-win situation. Personally, I would even pay $15 to get Canvas mode. If we had the ability to buy this via an unlock code for 15$, you would have 30000$ in revenue with 2000 users. Of course, it would be very nice to get this for free.

@DJI It would be nice to make a statement on this, if you would at least give us Canvas-Mode to make a part of the community happy.
@Community Please also write your open letters with your concerns under it.

Thanks a lot and greetings from the community, and I hope that the translation is ok.

Hello there antigravity. As of the moment, DJI do not have any information with DJI's future update for the DJI FPV firmware. Kindly please stay tuned to the latest updates by subscribing to DJI official website at www.dji.com or following us on social media and blablabla and blabla...
Unlike DJI, we listen to your speech.

thanks I'm with you man

Hi, I don't own a DJI FPV, but I'm just curious. If I understand correctly, you have a problem with the video stream? Or have I understood absolutely nothing?

I am with you 100 %. The DJI fpv drone has a lot of potential and the fpv system is great. They should work with us, improve like they do on Mavics and make money with it.

The dji fpv and the fpv system are really great but suffer from several problems that have never been fixed. The community has been asking for updates for months and the only update they offer us is a version that brings nothing except blocking the possibility to downgrade or upgrade the firmware... Dji seems to focus only on new products so users are a little angry.

Open letter you say...

DJI, Stop violating GPL and release all the relevant source code, changes to the public! Profiting from free software and open source work without contributing back to the community, and ignoring open source practices has to stop!

DJI does this unfortunately. They also take their customers for Beta testers. But the SDK is available on Github I believe. It may be that no third party developer was interested in this, maybe ! I know that the FPV receiver is compatible with the MAVlink which is much more common on "racer" drones.

The SDK for the FPV model is not available and they don't plan to release it (I already asked the support). I'll be the first one interested as a developer.

I’m afraid to say this but I think you are pi$$ing into the wind on this endeavour. DJI are noted for many things but listening to the customer isn’t one of them. You only have to look at the number of people whom are having issues with faulty batteries and the stark silence from DJI. So unless your intention is to become a tumbleweed collector I’d concentrate your energies on something more fruitful, like banging your head on a wall, it works for me

I agree with Nidge. The open letter is laudable, but it won't accomplish anything. The old saying "A leopard never changes his spots" applies to DJI. They've always done this bait/switch/abandon-the-customer thing with all of their aircraft and their behavior will never change.

DJI's FPV equipment is end-of-life and will not be developed any further. So, just collect what you can now and stock up. It still works and very well, so it'll continue to work as-is for a long time.

For the future, we have no choice but to go to a competitor, whichever one happens to bring out a decent product first. Right now, for FPV, that's no one, so for an enjoyable experience we have to stick with DJI for now. What I'm doing is flying what I have with the firmware that's already loaded and enjoying it as-is. And I just try not to crash .

Hopefully by the time I've worn out and/or crashed my existing equipment, there will be an acceptable competitor we can go with. We don't have any other choices, so that's my suggestion.

There have been a few attempts at digital HD video systems, some quite good and some quite poor. I've not used HDZero so I can't comment on that, and the DVR I don't believe does it justice as its recorded in moving JPEG as apposed to say H264 which the Skyzone analog DVR uses.

I still fly the Connex (Amimon) prosight system and I find that to be quite good. It doesn't have the penetration the DJI system provides but it is slightly lower in latency, but not so as you'd really notice. But like many others that fell by the wayside Connex didn't have the same marketing and distribution resources that DJI currently have, it wasn't available on the UK domestic market so my gear came from the States.

HDZero is really the only competition to DJI at this time and I'm sure it will improve as the chip manufacturing process returns back to pre-Covid levels.

HD0 is what I'm looking at. Right now the video quality is still pretty poor - it says it's resolution is 720p, but you can tell by just looking at it that it's not 720p. It's something lower than that. And they're still working on the breakup and range, etc. It's still not quite there yet.

But they're being very responsive to the FPV community - so far - so they're already way ahead of DJI in that respect. So it may be a viable alternative eventually if they keep improving it.

I've stocked up on my DJI Air Units and my FPV drone and those are my last DJI purchases. By the time I get through with those, maybe HD0 will have gotten better.

Hello, I´m gonna white in spanish, because is my main language and not only the US and UK people use DJI digital system.

It is a mockery to those who have trusted DJI, it is not possible that Shark Bite (a project in its infancy) has this option and we who bet on something expensive just do not give it to us.... We are a whole community in Spain and South America that has been waiting for this for almost a year and on top of that they are blocking us with this update instead of giving us improvements.

The only thing they are going to get is that an X develops a jailbreak that releases all these options that ARE POSSIBLE, only that DJI does not want to activate for us. When Sharkbite starts to improve their software you guys are going to cry like a little kid who doesn't get his milk.

Coincidentally the same crew that gave us Digiview and B3Yond have now enabled root access to the goggles. For the average user this is not a big deal, yet, but if you have a developer’s head then this is really big as it provides access all areas to the code allowing for infinite customisation, and hopefully it will  eventually provide all the features that DJI should have provided in the first place.

the thing is people root devices is because they want features the manufacture is not giving them or restrictions etc....  If DJI actually listen to their customers people probably be less likely to try to find a way to root it.

I've learned my lesson with DJI.  Every time DJI releases  an update - I always wait, wait, and wait some more, because there are always 'hidden' features.

Its annoyying, i got two DJI FPV and can't upgrade to Firmware 0.20, with the 15 i already had a crash because the copter did not react, after i sent the logs and the rest of the bird to DJI, they provided me a brand new one for free, telling it wasn't my fault, the drone indeed did not react to my controller and crashed full speed against a house.

But now i want to upgrade to an obviously safer firmware and i can't.
Please DJI, save my babies

I'm indifferent to the "anti-rollback" provision, because I always stay current on everything. Drones, cell phone, computers, everything.

I've only had my DJI FPV a bit less than a month, but I haven't seen any firmware updates *AT ALL* since my initial activation on 22-04-29. Have there been any?

Will I get notified of firmware updates for the FPV in DJI Fly? I've been flying Minis for almost a year, and they seem to update with some regularity.

Thx,

TCS

Wow, not a single reply from DJI employees. DJI lost a client for good today. I'm out.
