In August 2019, the earth dam at Toddbrook Reservoir above Whaley Bridge sprang a leak.
The subsequent emergency hit the headlines around the world. For several weeks, the safety of the inhabitants was in peril.
The dam is now stabilized, although the reservoir has been drained to a safe level.
Work can now begin on a permanent repair, which could take another couple of years.

This 360pano from above the dam also show the village of Whaley Bridge, large parts of which could have been
swept away had the dam actually collapsed.

Amazing that they're still building new houses below it.

That's a nice shot. Living near dams is unlucky, I think.

Yes. The emergency repair phase is complete. Just the other day there was a press release stating that the long-term improvement works will now start in earnest.

Brilliant.  Ive totally missed that on the national press.   Last time I saw it they hadn't even started work on it.

We heard last night that mum tested postiive for C19 in hospital,  so far dad doesnt have it but we will be testing for the next few days for sure.
