I was reading in the chinese forum that the price of the M3 has dropped again. People in China that are buying it at the reduced price says the manufacture date on the box is November 2021 which shows that these drones are not really selling and Dji is trying to clear stock. Why are they not making more of these drone I wonder? Maybe making way for a replacement model, whatever it maybe.

Yup, always the case of the next Big Thing out there. You can never keep up with technology but I am really surprised that the Mavic 3 is now being discounted for the 2nd time in its short life span. And for the thing that Dji is still sitting with stock since November is normally unheard off as their flagship products usually sellout very fast, it is either because of the high launch price, the missing features or the issues that this drone currently has.

Im sure I saw a post that it was being discounted in the USA as well.

Yes there was but this is another recent price drop. So the 2nd price drop is such a short time.

How fast Tech becomes legacy equipment. It like I just built a i7 11700K Gaming PC late last year with AMD RX6800XT, cost me alot and then it became old as the new i7 12700K Alder Lake came out. Now im itching to buy and build that because I feel that I have very old tech

Yeah, those prices are high for a mini but comparing it to the Autel Nano its on Par and with a better RC. I just hope the RC works with the M3 then I will get it.

To come back to your OP - if the global microchip shortage continues, will they be able to sustain production - or even develop newer models in the short term, I wonder.

Thats true but from what I have heard from our suppliers is that the production of chips have resumed and we were told that we should start to see the markets get back slowly to pre-covid times again very soon.

Yup, True. We had a massive shortage because of silicone chips in the camera manufacturing industry and security side but from what we seeing the wait times have slowly started to come back to normal

I would really wait on the M3 before pulling the trigger. If stocks at Dji are still from 11/2021 then I doubt our local guys would be selling out very soon as well. Maybe they will also reduce enough to make it worth the grab

Yes I think I really will wait now. Talk of a Tele with 1" sensor as either a M3s or M4 almost makes it worth the wait, plus I'm guessing they will have nailed the GPS by then. I guess it's back to the Mini and Topaz Gigapixel until things are a bit clearer. Imagine how the M3 would have walked off the shelves if the 7x was quality and the GPS issue didn't exist. So so close by DJI

High launch price, current continued issues, and DJI not being able to solve the issues within a reasonable timeframe have all contributed to their need to introduce a M3S.

Got it !  Great views. And straight away it dawns on me, I could be hovering a good bit lower from my panos. I've been at 50 metres and 100 metres. That tends to compromise detail at the nadir point.

Then the Mavic 3FFSi/A = Finally Fixed Satellite issue AND Airsense!!

My FMC bought in Feb and also Nov 2021. I think they built a lot of stock as they thought about very high sales because of chip shortage but because of all issues they did not cleared it yet.
If they will fix GPS and ADB plus introduce new features, I don't think this year we will see a 3S model.
As for chip shortage in security market (CCTV) I'm working at one of the biggest producer and indeed some entry-mid chips are better but high end ones still big problem.
