It appears to be a tugboat.  I base my assumption on all the heavy lines and bumpers on the aft of the boat.

It's basically a huge floating bucket to carry away the dredged detritus, towed by a motorised narrowboat.

Yeah, I have seem similar 'vessels' here with dredging activities in the Canal.

Yes.  it seems to dart between the moorings,  Burnham,   the London ports and gravesend,   Ive been tracking its AIS data.

Yes it's basically just a huge metal bucket for towing away the stuff they dredge out of the canal. I was down at Marple the other day and nipped round to check on progress at the lock flight.

Yes
It's basically just the shell of a long narrowboat, with no engine, towed from place to place.
