Hi Depp. Thanks.  Yes, it's just the name of the area, sadly.  There are no castles in the immediate area.
Unless you count mine, for, as the saying goes "An Englishman's home is his Castle".

Hi Ann. There are a lot of horses in the area, and riding the green lanes is a popular actvity.
And the region we lived in, in France was the Departement du Cheval.

I'm not sure. Maybe it's to do with the difference betwen municipal golf courses and private clubs.
This one is bisected by a country road and the clubhouse and carpark are right beside it.
Dentist visit this morning early.

Yes!  Firm, damp sand is OK, but the dry dusty stuff can be like walking in treacle.
