Loker is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders and a borough of Heuvelland. In 1072 Loker was first mentioned in writing, as Lokere. This can mean clear stream or fence. The lords of Loker inhabited the Galooie-Motte and the nearby Hof van Loker from the 13th century. In the 12th century, the lords of Loker were important: Wouter van Loker was seneschal of Count Charles the Good and was murdered, together with the count, in 1127, after which the seigniory passed to the Béthune family, then to Van Hondschoote and Van Horne .
