There's a small interchange there to transfer the train from a siding, across two sets of rails to go back to Manchester.

The line continues through the hills and tunnels to Sheffield, but they seem to park one train in the siding to use at busy periods, in one direction or the other.

Certainly looks like a derailment. Good timing.

Sounds like good planning on the railroad's part.

I've never ridden the rails through this part of the world, oddly enough. But the scenery is great.

I bet it is.    When I was at the American Embassy in Madrid Spain I had a Eurail Pass and enjoyed the scenery from Spain to Andorra to France to Belgium to Netherlands and then Germany.  On the return trip I went from Germany to Switzerland to Italy to France to Andorra and back to Madrid.  Lots and lots of scenery and I enjoyed not having to drive.

Having done so much driving whilst I was working, I'm happy to take public transport these days so I can sit back and admire the scenery. I know what you mean

Not as safe on the roads as it used to be.  So many non-courteous and careless drivers nowadays that sometimes mass transit is better.

Without a doubt it can and does get stressful in traffic.  I try to avoid going anywhere during morning and afternoon rush hour which is fairly easy to do in since I retired.
