My work with the CAA took me through here many times as I carried out Scheduled and Unscheduled maintenance on the Nearby Radar and Comms equipment in the Lowther Hills area. Exciting times in the Winter season when even Sno-cat  machines couldn't reach the equipment sites.

Has to be some very bad winter snow and ice to keep Snow-cat machine from getting to sites.  I have watched those move all over steep ski slopes on fresh fluff.  Similar with Snow mobiles helping to rescue skiers who don't understand Boundary lines.

Hedge Trimmer, as it was Radar and Comms sites there was no cover at all. No trees, no bushes, no hedgrows. Nothing but grass and heather. There was one track/road to 3 different sites who had their own peculiar approaches. I worked on a few sites in Scotland in bad weather but Lowtherhill was the only place where I saw 12" icicles at 90 degrees with respect to the ground.
edited after rethink:- icicles were of course parallel to the ground.

Thank you kyalami. Maybe I could have gone a bit lower and angled the camera down more, but I didnt want to chance upsetting any 'locals'.
