Mapping the Spit.....

Tried a little test of mapping an area with the Mini2,   this image was made up from 20 images taken and stiched in perpective mode in Lightroom.     Hoping to use this technique on some wrecks to get some very detailed images.

Very impressive work DA.    Roughly, how long did it take you to stitch the 20 images in LR?

This technique should work well with multiple images of the boat wrecks.

I did it in the background on an older i7 2.2ghz laptop and it took under 10 minutes.  I didnt really time it.

Seems to have done the trick.

Interesting idea - though in this resolution I don't see anything special. I guess the original is like 16 by 10 k

I just flew manually and allowed about 25% overlap.   Litchi cant do it as the gimbal cannot maintain the -90 degrees without constant attention.

Yes,  the mini2 cant maintain -90 degrees in photo mode,  the workaround involves holding the scroll wheel the whole time.  Hopefully this is fixed on the Mini3.

Ive asked a few times in the last year and a half and theres been no sign of it coming,  and typically when DJI launches the next product the old one is mostly forgotten,  so I doubt now we will see a fix.

Don't I know it.. issues remain on the Osmo Pocket and there was only one update very shortly after the OP2 was released IIRC that didn't address the problems... grrrr...

Much thanks DAFlys for this demonstration of generating extensive, high resolution ‘flat’ images by compositing many vertical shots.  It is something I want to do but I wasn’t sure drones could consistently capture vertical images.  What you have done is rare on drone fora.  Cheers

Normally Ive used Drone Deploy to do this,  but I was looking for a free way to do smaller projects,   I have a boat wreck I want to try in the future that will be about the same number of shots.  Also this way I can do HDR.   The trick was telling Lightroom to do perspective mode.
