I wondered if it was a coating for the lens.

Could be, but a long shot.

Maybe just artistic licence then.

Sad,  I was hoping for something special from it.

It is.
I doubt it has anything to do with water.

Im pretty sure it will be used for vertical panos too,  so anything which is moving and this would be a great feature.

Ah ok, yeah, i can see that working, unlikely for me mind but i can see it now ya mentioned pano, although, could be useful for pano's of tall structures, thanks...

I'm confused...If the product release is date is supposedly the 10th of May, why not just buy it and do your own review on it, DJI will let you know if your successful between May 25 to May 30th then you have wait for the product to arrive, buy which time there will be hundreds of reviews on YouTube and other media platforms, plus you have to send it back, So is it really being released on the 10th? as it promotes " Try the latest DJI products before anyone else!"[view_image]    [view_image]

For folks that don't have a decent follow would great content do not have much of a chance with this, its a little unfair to be honest, we have to start somewhere...

Why did you guess that?

I suggested that ("helium bladders") upthread.  Only half-seriously.  Well, maybe quarter-seriously.

I have not cracked open a drone to see how much unused space there is inside. My guess (based on looking at it from the outside) is, there's not much "empty" space inside, but there's some.  Probably not enough to make much of a difference if you filled those empty spaces with a buoyant gas (helium is a better choice than hydrogen - remember The Hindenburg), but you know, we are just talking about a few grams here and there, if you could gain a net total of 5 to 10 grams less weight by adding gas-filled "bladders" it might be a win.  But it would add a lot of complexity to the build process to add those internally (you would need to find multiple small "empty" spaces -- eg inside sections of the arms, and it would require some kind of thin "bladder" containers, so would add at least a little weight), so it probably doesn't make economic sense -- the Mini can carry itself already, and not everybody needs or wants extra payload capacity (for strobes, prop guards, whatever).  A lot of effort for a very small gain, and the effort would cost everyone money but only benefit a relative few.

A more realistic option might be (for a third-party) to add a single, larger-capacity external helium-filled bladder (maybe attached to the belly; it would require extended langing "legs" but that's easy enough). Someone with more interest than me would have to run the numbers on how much lifting power that helium (or other non-flammable bouyant gas) could bring and how large a space that would require...think about how large a helium balloon is...maybe an aerodynamically "teardrop-shaped", grapefruit-sized helium bladder that snaps on the belly could be workable, I dunno.  Just thinking outside the box.

Those little "bubbles" on the artwork may just be decorative...but it's entertaining to imagine the possibilities while we wait.

I use pano shots a lot if Im shooting something for a magazine cover,  it give me much more scope when cropping etc.  That said my last front cover was cropped from a landscape taken with the Mini2 and that still looked good in print.

Hes put out a couple now,   although where did he get it from?   A shop or was that a DJI review unit.

I believe the same,  as he's managed to activate his where the other un boxing videos dont seem to be able to do that.

Gotta agree with you on that as he is the only one that has gotten it airborne.  He even says in the video that it is not a full production FW.

Hopefully, 2 days from now we will have a release party.
