Hen I was a little kid, my bedroom looked over several railway tracks just before Belfast station. I was always fascinated by them (mainly steam trains).
And there was a steam strain that used to travel down the centre of the road in Belfast shipyard and my father used to ride alongside it on his motorbike so I could get a good look

Yes indeed. I visited the 'Wheatbelt' area of Western Australia a couple of years ago and used to watch the  trains there, which were up to two kilometres long! You can imagine the gigantic weight. So, when they were just starting off, they would rev at full speed.
You didn't want to get stuck at a train crossing in town, because they took about 15 minutes to pass
