Yes there are some great walks in the grounds too. No-one about at that time of the morning - all was quiet.

Oh wow, what a beautiful estate together with gorgeous scenery it looks like this was taken form the tv series Downtown Abbey.

Ah. That series was filmed at the renovated Highclere Castle in the south of England.
This manor house pre-dates it by about a century - built in the late 16th century and updated in 1720.
It's about 20 miles southeast of Manchester.

Too much hassle
And I prefer solitude for drone flying - no distractions when there are no spectators.
Dull and damp today, but I wasn't going out flying ayway.

I'm sure it would as that is quite a large estate.  

They must employee quite a few employees to maintain the surrounding grounds.  Seems to be well kept.

From memory of my last tour of the house and grounds, I remember an entire workshop and greenhouses. So they must have a permanent staff. The surrounding fields are grazed short by sheep, and they have a herd of deer that roam the park too.

Forecast was 9mm of rain,  but we only had odd spots on and off all day,   did 5 miles with SHMBOd and was just getting wet when we got home.

I didnt know about the eclipse.    Supposed to be sunny today but so far its overcast and windy,   hoping the grass dries a bit so I can go and do the parents gardening later.

Yes,   nothing better than wet grass.   But later I might try some long exposure photography down at the old pier,  if the sky stays gray like it is now it could be a good day for it.

I figured they would need at least a few permanent groundskeepers.  Pretty ingenious to use the sheep.  They are usually pretty good at keeping everything "short".

Near our former home in France there is a large solar panel farm, with a few sheep on permanent duty to keep the grass around them short.

That's a full circle use of the sheep.  They get to "mow" down the grass and weeds and then poop it out to make natural fertilizer and re-enrich the soil for another grow season.

Realistically it will be after lunch before I get the maiden in,   theres some big updates to do first and then it needs to be charged.
