I'm not sure if this really is a smart idea, or is this just a case of a dumb person thinking they're smart, but came around with this idea a while ago and decided to share this idea in case somebody else would find it useful.

Some time ago, I was recording video of our local community college's poetry night with my Pocket 2 Creator Combo and later checked the video. I was appalled to find out the audio was of very uneven quality, as I was a fool to think the built-in mics of the Pocket 2 would be adequate to record the voice of the performers standing in the front. The audio was sometimes barely audible, while other times it was very loud when local musicians played their trombones. It got me thinking, what would be a easy to arrange and carry solution for putting a mic on the front and get good quality, easy-to-sync audio for the recording. At first, I thought of the Pocket 2's own wireless mic with the Do-It-All handle, but thought that would be problematic as the performers would have their own hassle if they attached the mic to their shirt collars and then remove it for the next performer, and it would be hard to setup as a static microphone as it has no mounts for mic stands or tripods to attach it... or does it?

Then I invented a solution that utilizes the carrying case of the Pocket 2...

As we know, the Pocket 2 carrying case has a slot for storing the wireless mic in it...

Step one: Attach the mic to it's slot in the carrying case.

Step one: Attach the mic to it's slot in the carrying case.

It also has a thread for storing the original mini tripod - but nothing is stopping the user from using it as a mount for a bigger tripod, so...

Step 2: Remove the mini tripod from the case.

Step 2: Remove the mini tripod from the case.

BOOM! Instant wireless microphone stand!

Step 3: Screw the case onto a bigger camera tripod and adjust the angle to your needs..

Step 3: Screw the case onto a bigger camera tripod and adjust the angle to your needs..

So what is your opinion on this? Is this a dumb idea or something that could be useful? Did you figure this one yourself as self-explanatory or is this something new to you? Let me know if I am an idiot

Neat idea - like all the best ideas in the world, blindingly obvious, but I've not actually seen anyone else suggest it!

Thanks, I just wished I came upon the idea earlier. Oh well, at least I know to do it next time :-)

Yeah, I was thinking it felt so obvious that maybe I am just a bit "slow" in inventing it, but on the other hand, as you said, haven't seen this from anyone else :-)

Seems, I tend to learn things the hard way, but once learned I never forget.

At least the part of learning the hard way sounds familiar with me, can't say I never forget myself  though

I guess I probably should have added the caveat "so far".

A great example of "thinking outside the box", or should that be "in the box"?
Well done.

I'm considering the DJI Mic myself. (not the Pocket 2 version, but the one that is sold separately)

Yeah, I know the one. I might get it myself when it's easily available and my finances allow it. While the Pocket 2's wireless microphone does its job pretty well, I think it's a shame you can't use more than one of those at the same time. The DJI Mic would fit greatly for my purposes, if for instance I had the need to do interviews etc.

I feel like the 'big brother' is exactly what I would need.

A small update on this one: As a part of my Pocket 2 and water-proof case replacement process, I ended up having one extra Pocket 2 storage case shown here. And it popped into my mind to see if this could be applied to the DJI Mic transmitters as well. Tried it and found out the measurements of the clip are almost exactly equal to the ones found on the Pocket 2's wireless mic. And, trying in practice, found out the case holds the DJI Mic transmitter perfectly in place. So if you own both the Pocket 2 and DJI Mic, feel free to replace the Pocket 2 wireless mic with the DJI Mic transmitters :-)
