Today i have done a flight with 2400Km and i have lost the signal. I use DJI RC.  With my autel Nano+ i can fly on 4000Km in the same place...

DJI RC Remote Controller Firmware: v01.00.0200 (update on the 05/26/2022)

I hope that DJI increase range (of drone ou RC) with a next firmware.

I have also some bugs with this RC

Don’t have the RC so can’t say for sure, but in one of the reviews they mentioned its battery will be enough for 3 flights approximately. With the rcn1 of the mini 2 I was doing a lot of flights with one charge. At least 20 depending on the flights.

Cheers spent some time on this afternoon looking at Youtube reviews, Billy Kyle, Pilot Institute, Flytpath and they are saying RC-N1 is 6 hours and DJI RC has 4 which I thought was still pretty impressive.

They also said if the RC-N1 was set to charge the phone it was reduced to 4 hours.

Has anyone received a useful answer of DJI yet as this thread has been idle for a while? I have the same issue and told the support that the range of my Mini3 with RC (flying in Europe) is similar to the one I had with the original Mini and far worse than with my current Mini 2. Answer was an illustration about how to point the RC towards the drone ...
In the middle of nowhere with no obstables or interferences the first bar drops after 300m and the first video transmission interruptions appear under 1000m.

I tried pointing it good at the drone in every position to the drone, 300M above urban erea and signal is gone!
Hope DJI will give a answer in one of the threads about this, they will look into it............
The Mini 2 was awesome with signal/connection strenhgt!

Yeah but thats at 278m high, we cannot legally do that and never will, its far too dangerous except for the structure caveat but that's dufferent.

120 m is still very high with regards to signal. There are no structures that high in the UK

legally, you have to descend to the 120m height as you go down,  its like imagining there is a string attached that's 120m long, it can never leave the ground.

There are many structures above 120m
but, i think we can go over those but at no more than 15m higher than the structure and we must stay within 50m of the structure. so, in effect, we can fly 15m above the Emley Moor transmitting station that stands at 329m or the Shard at 310m and so on

I should also mention that when i did my Mini 2 range test, that was mostly at only 17m and rose to 27m for the last leg, so the height is not a major player in certain scenarios, for me, i think the thick fog helped to bounce the signal from the low fog, sommat like that anyway lol

Not a lot of context there, are you trying to bait me?
Was it a structure or mountainside, or just purely for the shlts and Kicks?

I just received my DJI Mini 3 Pro yesterday with the DJI RC. Incredibly disappointed with the reception range compared to my Mavic Mini 2. So I tested both in the same location, conditions etc:

Mavic Mini 2:
Altitude: 100 Meters
Distance before losing connection: 850 Meters

Mini 3 Pro (DJI RC)
Altitude: 100 Meters
Distance before losing connection: 450 Meters

Mini 3 Pro (Using my Mini 2's RC-N1)
Altitude: 100 Meters
Distance before losing connection: 750 Meters

I don't expect great range near my house in the city considering all of the electromagnetic interference, trees, building etc. But I was at least hoping the Mini 3/DJI RC would perform at least as well as the Mini 2. From what I can tell based on my test is that most of the problem lies with the DJI RC and partially with the Mini 3 Pro itself. I have zero confidence this can be fixed by future firmware updates and seems like a hardware design issue. As it stands I'm going to most likely return it to DJI.

oh man that sucks.  But I'm also surprised about the mini2 not even making it 1KM.
If I didn't see your from Canada I would have thought those were CE ranges tests not FCC.

I'll be getting mine soon to put through it's paces.
And like you, if range is crap, it's going back.

Hopefully enough people will return theirs to wake up DJI.

You are not alone. I flew my mini 3 pro and lost the connection around 550m mark in multiple locations. So I dont think it has to do with the signal interference. And I too had original mini and it never had range issues <1.5km.

I caught up with a guy today who just purchased a Mini 3 Pro. I was with air 2 and believe it or not, we both got similar ranges. I supposed I never really take my air2 out far so perhaps the range issue is not actually an issue? My air 2 was unable to get that much further than the Mini 3

I have to chime in and getting similar range issues here. Happened to me around 300m, vancouver canada, urban area, 1 tall building, lost signal and inititated RTH. I tried other urban areas and its hit or miss. I sometimes can get around 1000m and others 500m before it starts to cut out or become unreliable. The RC would also be laggy as the buttons wouldn't respond to presses and seems like it lost its responsiveness at the point where its going to lose its signal.

What announcement values? there hasnt been any announcements for urban in CE mode. granted whilst 470m is quite low if you look at the range in this sense, max FCC  = 12000m vs CE = 8000m  but with heavy interference its FCC 1500m to 3000m so if we apply the same to CE it should be around 1000m to 2000m.

2.4ghz FCC 26db CE 20db
5.8ghz FCC 26db CE 14db nearly half the gain of FCC

What i cannot figure out is why the DJI-RC has 2 sets of WIFI transmit specs, one is lower for FCC?

So with all these figures of around the 500m mark for CE, sounds like its auto choosing 5.8ghz, has anyone manually switched it to 2.4 to see if that helps, you'd need to be higher up though to get above the interference, so 80m  to 120m.

I flicked between 2.4 and 5.8 on my last flight and didnt notice any improvement on the bar strength,   I will test this again on my next flight to see if 2.4 is really noticeably better.

Im not sure what its like nowadays but with my P4P in CE 2,4 was stronger for range, when in FCC, it didn't matter, 2.4 and 5.8 were the same.

What i I'm saying is, i don't know it its still the same for us, i.e. 2.4 being the stronger for range or if its now where both are the same.

The only way to test is in the countryside, to take the 5.8 as far as you can and then see if 2.4 can do any better, it be an interesting test for sure, have fun

ps, I'm not interested in range figures on this one, just seeing if 2.4 is better and bt how much (percentage is fine) ;)

I'm UK, so CE rules.  2.4GHz does do greater range, as expected, as CE 5.8GHz is crippled boy low power output.

I'm not getting better urban range if I locked it to 2.4GHz, though obviously do rural.

Thank you, thats what was expected on all counts, for us at least. I am hoping that we can still use the DH app when using the N1 rc so FCC can still be used, if not then it will major blow...

Beyond disappointed at the range for the DJI RC for the Mini 3 pro.  I’m getting return to homes at 800 feet line of sight.  No control over cameras past 500 feet. This is DISTANCE, not altitude. Please tell me there are some kind of antennas I can get for this.  It’s close to worthless.  I’ve had all other mini models and they’ve had waaaaayyyyy more range. Very upset.

I flew out on 2.4ghz and switched to 5.8ghz and the bars didnt change and there was no real perceived improvement between the two,  this was in fairly empty countryside,   only interference would have been a wifi hotspot and mobiles phones.
My range test was identical.

Ah, now thats why i said to go out in 5.8 1st until it started dropping in signal, then change to 2.4 to see if it improves the signal strength, because going out in 2.4 1st wouldnt tell us anything.
