i know you didn't order it this way but if you use paypal, it gets charged automatically. as you know, there are millions of paypal orders and while paypal does have a similar "hold" technique, it is rarely used. so i wanted to throw that out there that it is way more common than you think.
if a merchant is going to ship within 30 days, it is perfectly ok to charge the card in accordance with the law. i know some people don't like that but it really shouldn't matter. in my experience, nothing against you, but it seems like this is only an issue with people who have credit issues, need to freed up credit line, etc. buying the mini3 is a queue, first come first serve. those who pay will get the mini3 first. not those who "hold." not trying to speak for dji but if they are shipping drones as fast as possible as possible, they are shipping first to people who are paying. if they don't charge you and you are holding a place in line and the day before your ship day, you cancel because you bought it from best buy....
again, not saying you are doing this, but when an item is not easy to get right away, some people will place an order at 10 different places to see who ships first and then they cancel the other 9. this method won't stop it from happening but it helps minimize. honestly, my personal opinion, a person should not be able to hold a place in line without paying. just to reiterate, if the expected shipment date is past 30 days then the merchant shouldn't charge you.
fast forward to october and normally the shipments take 2-3 days, if you run low on stock and backorder for 2 weeks, the merchant should not charge until 2 weeks. i don't run dji but this is the way i would do it. im old school so back in the day, you had to send a money order (which means you paid since there was no temporary money order) and several weeks was normal so today's method is all good with me. i used paypal because i wanted the charge to show up in the month of may and i didn't want to risk dji charging me in june. i get some extra credits from my credit card provider for may changes but not in june. |
