The SD card sits pretty deep in the slot on the Mini 3, and generally some kind of tool is needed to insert and remove the card. If you have a long enough fingernail that is perhaps the easiest method, but other poky items can also be used.

I decided to design a custom tool for this purpose, which fits perfectly over the back part of the drone where the SD card holder is. It is a simple file to 3D-print, and it is available from this link (not free, but also not expensive):

Sure there are many ways to do this, and it could be done with lots of different items, and my design is of course overkill compared to yours. However, it is still just a 20-25 minute 3D-print, and it does offer the advantage that the card will not be able to fly off if the tool slips (which I have seen people experiencing, although I think it would be very rare to have that happen).

Yours is a nice design,   your way the sd card is less likely to be launched across the room if you slip.
