I started using multi rotors 2 months ago with a Phantom 2 Vision Plus and I was still not satisfied with video/remote range so I decided to upgrade to a Phantom 2 with Zenmuse gimbal for Gopro and Lightbridge. If it first looks quite expansive you'll find it so easy to setup and so reliable when you fly. It is the best option you can mount on a Phantom as it is "all in one" so you'll only have 1 device for radio control and video link.

Wouldn't be worth it.. you would loose all the vision capabilities.  You will not be able to stream hd video as well. It would be analog sent via digital signal.
