Thats high tide,  but not the highest tides,   we are averaging about 5.5m at the moment and a 6.3m is not unusual.

Cheers HGDC84,    some of the bigger boats really do stick about for a while,  especially if they are breaking the speed limit.

We were cooking a family lunch yesterday.  We had prepped for 8+ as we were expecting a number of grandkids to come and it ended up being just 4 of us.    I wasnt impressed to be honest.

Yeah, I remember you telling me before that the channel creates the huge tide variances.  Still it's pretty interesting in the amount that it rises and falls.

Just looked at the times for Tampa and they are tiny deviations,   so small I guess you dont really even thing about them like we would here.

Yes, a lot smaller, except just after storms pass through.  Speaking of storms seems we have one getting ready to cross the Gulf of Mexico and cut across the middle or Florida.  Hopefully, it doesn't develop into a hurricane....but at least at this point it doesn't appear to increase in strength.  However, with the warm waters of the Gulf it could help increase the intensity.  Oh well, can't do anything but wait and watch.

Well, the storm blew through the southern tip of Florida and dumped inches of rain but no high winds and it is already out into the Atlantic Ocean.

Okay I had to look up pollarding.  Pollarding = pruning or trimming.  There are a lot of tree trimmers here in Florida.  They get a lot of business from people that own Palm trees as keeping the fronds cut is quite a chore, especially as they grow really tall.

Its more of a hard prune.    Slightly more than a thirds off the top.

We do it about 5 or 6 years,  it keeps the neighbours happy,  but it does grow very fast,   give it three months at it will be green again.
