Castle in Silesian Poland
The castle in Mirów was built in the times of Casimir the Great around the mid-fourteenth century next to the village of Mirów, founded under Polish law. The castle and the castle farm were mentioned for the first time in 1399 as Mirow, 1439 castrum seu fortalicium Mijrow, historians suppose that there were already wooden and earth buildings in this place. Initially, the stronghold was made up of a stone watchtower subordinate to the nearby castle in Bobolice, which together with it was part of the defense system known today as the Eagle's Nests. Currently, the fortress is being rebuilt thanks to the efforts of the Lasecki family. The nearby castle in Bobolice is rebuilt and is an international attraction.
