On hold as the First Mate I contracted was COVID positive and he is recovering okay but he has to have 2 negative tests before we travel to some of the Caribbean countries.  Sad news is we are now getting further into the hurricane season in the Caribbean and lost of small storms already brewing in that area.

Yeah.  Sad because I had the timing all worked out, or so I thought.  Guess you can't plan for everything.  My last first mate is a college student and is taking classes abroad this summer so she wasn't available and I had several recommendations on this experienced First Mate but little did I contemplate COVID popping up as an issue since both him and I were fully vaxxed.  

My last first mate is a half year away from getting her Doctorate in Marine Biology.  She wants to take a celebratory cruise next spring after graduation and before she goes to work using her degree.  So at least I have that to fall back on if this summer fizzles out.

Agree with you on that.  Seems China is going through another major lockdown. Not sure if there is an end in sight.  Not giving up hope but this thing just keeps hanging on So just have to make the best of things from day to day.

The thing for me is that I'm starting not to care about some things that were quite important for me (following the rules for example).
