Due to recent road resurfacing locally, an advisory sign was erected by the Direct Works.
Some wit from a nearby residence added a makeshift sign of his own to add humour to the situation.

The cat's eye design originated in the UK in 1934 and is today used all over the world. The original form consisted of two pairs of retro-reflectors set into a white rubber dome,
mounted in a cast-iron housing. This is the kind that marks the centre of the road, with one pair of cat's eyes showing in each direction. A single-ended form has become widely
used in other colours at road margins and as lane dividers. Cat's eyes are particularly valuable in fog.

Mrs. B had mentioned it as she'd seen it from the bus the other day, and it's on the main A6 - my route up to the reservoirs today.  I had the Pocket2 primed and ready

I'm sure that was the goal of the person who made the 2nd sign.  

Speaking of signs. On the drive back home from my dive trip yesterday I saw this sign posted.  Guess the sign maker was trying to keep people from being ticketed.

It worked for me as I glanced down and was going 5  mph over the speed limit.  Sure enough there were 2 motorcycle cops running radar a half mile down the road from the sign.

Saved you a fine perhaps.  And do you get pointsmarked on your licence as we do in the UK?  (Or subtracted as in France?)

Oh yes, those infamous points.  Car insurance companies use those to raise your premiums.  The state uses those when you hit a certain maximum to revoke your license.

Hasn't slowed some people down though as they continue to drive while their license is suspended.  There was a DUI crash the other night and the driver had his license previously revoked permanently for 3 previous DUI convictions.  Now he is looking a vehicular manslaughter and probably many years in prison.
