It's slowly becoming indistinguishable from its surroundings. Good spot.

Its amazing how long they do last with the right conditions,   take the Mary Rose for example.

Indeed.  This one has a few more centuries to wait before achieving that state though

I saw a similar wreck where the kids lit a fire inside it,  it bared touched the old thing.   I suspect the old timbers are saturated now.

Nice shot DA.

Appears that boat has been long forgotten by it's owners.  Nature will take over before too much longer.

Cheer DT,  was just discussing that with Mr B,    some of these old wrecks last for centuries,  just take for example the Mary Rose.

You're welcome DA.  Yes, Mary Rose is a great example.  Laying in a watery grave for over 437 years attests to how well she was built and how long she withstood all that time.

I remember when they lifted her how they sprayed it with sea water for years,   actually went and did a visit once they had it only display but the water made it hard to see.

It's a real miracle that they were even able to perform such an ambitious marine salvage.  Lots of history surrounding the Mary Rose.

Yes, she was in a watery grave for over 437 years so I'm really surprised there was any wood left to recover.  Reading a bit on it it seems like what helped preserve it was the starboard side was buried in clay all those years.

I was just super impressed they managed to raise her,  although there are a lot of wrecks around the coats,  just a couple of miles down the creek they pulled out some canons not that long ago.

No doubt more interesting finds will be made.  Based on years of diving experience I can say for certain that there is a lot of stuff underwater that has yet to be found.  Some salvageable and some not.  As old as the UK is there has to be even more archaeological items to be discovered.

Yes,  they are going to cut off the masts over there next month as they are concerned they will fall into the ship and trigger an explosion.  The local boat companies are running tours to go out and see them before it happens.   But I don't need to go as the Beyond the Point YouTubers filmed the tour,  they also went out to see the forts in the mouth of the Thames which looks staggering.

For safety reasons that is probably a good idea.  Better to not take any chances with those old explosives still onboard.

I just hope they don't drop them in the cutting off process.

If the nearby estuaries are an example then I have no doubt the Thames is just as bad.  Not fun when you go dive and can barely see your hand in front of your face.  That's when it's time to quit making bubbles, surface and pop a top on a cold one.

There was a wreck off the sandy part of the local coast a few miles from here when Id seen an underwater picture.  See. below.   In finding it I found an article about a guy who got jailed for selling the canons off the wreck,  he said they were found in international water but the buyers recognised the name of the ship.

Well that is one way to get caught.

Yes,  you'd think he'd have known canons are marked for the ship they were made for.
